Daniela and Annette Felder are the ultra-cool fashion masterminds behind the cult fashion label, Felder Felder. Since the labels launch in 2006, the identical twins have earned a multitude of A-list fans with their signature sophisticated punk aesthetic, including Courtney Love and Estelle, as well as a BFA nomination in 2008 and sponsorship from the Topshop NewGen scheme in 2009.
Although they’re based in London, a city they adore for its “genuine love of individuality”, the girls were born in a small town just outside Cologne in West Germany. After leaving Germany to go travelling, the sisters enjoyed a brief stint in modelling, before scoring internships with designer, Robert Cary-Williams and milliner, Stephen Jones, which pushed them to study fashion at none other than Central St Martins, of course! After graduating, they immediately made an impact on the London fashion scene, swiftly becoming famous for their combination of soft shapes and rock n roll edge. Their debut LFW show was styled by the iconic Patti Wilson and before long; Felder Felder was being stocked in the most high-end stores in the country and was named “one of the best selling brands in Browns Focus”. The girls were fast becoming a fashion force to be reckoned with, jumping across the globe to showcase their collections in various cities, including New York, Berlin, and, of course, London.
Felder Felder’s collections all feature hints of the girls signature look, lush fabrics and structured shapes given a grungy makeover by their trademark asymmetry and their use of strong architectural lines. The twins also design their own accessories – mainly studded cuffs with a tough, gothic feel, which integrate perfectly within their collections.

For their A/W10 collection, the girls cited Iggy Pop, the infamous lead singer of punk band The Stooges as their biggest influence, stating “Obviously, Iggy does not wear very much on stage, so we are talking more about the attitude and mood we aimed to capture in this collection”. The punk rock references are strewn throughout the collection, sometimes shown subtly through studded straps and sometimes much more evidently, like by my personal favourite piece of the collection, a cropped and fitted black bolero with studded collars. Their latest collection for S/S10 also features a distinctively biker kind of feel, with edgy leather jackets and studded skirts, as well as artfully slashed leather trousers, though is given a touch of elegance in typical Felder Felder style - through sculptured bodycon and shift dresses.
The girls say the typical Felder Felder girl is” inspired, individual and knows what she wants. She is a woman who is fun to be around”, and I thing that sums the labels aesthetic perfectly. It’s safe to say that these incredibly talented twins just seem to be getting more adventurous every season and I, for one, just cannot wait to see what the future has in store for Felder Felder. I think we’re going to be in for one hell of a wild and well-dressed ride…
